Boynton Beach Sport Fishing Pictures for May 2012

nother awesome day at sea catching all kinds of sportfish. Another bountiful kingfish day

5/12/12

Today we had great fun catching sailfish, dolphin had some cobia close to the boat.

The weather was a bit rough but the fishing was excellent. It was a bit windy 15 knots out of the south east.

11/27/11

This morning we had a group of hardcore anglers visiting from North Carolina. These guys were used to rough seas thank god, because the ocean was rough this morning off Boynton Beach. We had to cancel the last few trips due to weather, so everyone was excited to embark upon this charter. As is usually the case with stiff onshore breezes, the mahi mahi showed up close to the reef less than a mile offshore Boynton. We trolled bonito strips and ballyhoo along the edge of the reef and managed to hook 3 nice dolphin! One of them managed to shake off the hook when he jumped, but we did manage to land two nice gaffers for the dinner table. In between dolphin bites we were kept busy by small bonito that were attacking our lures and baits all trip long! Overall it turned out to be another awesome fishing charter in Boynton Beach. It looks like the weather is finally getting nice for us this week so book a trip while you can!

11/26/11

It has been a blustery week in Boynton Beach, so most of our fishing charters were postponed this week. However, those willing to try out the intracoastal for some prime inshore fishing have been having a blast catching a whole myriad of migrating species in our areas backcountry. The Great Day is not only built for offshore fishing, but an inshore killing machine as well! We had a very enthusiastic party of anglers this morning that were willing to try out Boynton Beach's awesome inshore fishery this time of year. While trolling lures only minutes from the dock, we were able to catch over 30 fish in our secret intracoastal fishing spot. By the end of the trip, our cooler and fish box were full of tasty spanish mackerel and bluefish. We also managed to catch and release over a dozen jack crevalle, which are some of the hardest fighting species of fish on the planet. This trip is a perfect example of how we can have just as much fun fishing the inshore waters as the offshore waters off Boynton Beach. Book your charter with us today, regardless of weather!

11/23/11 Afternoon Trip

Our afternoon fishing charter today had great luck right from the get go! Within 15 minutes of leaving the dock we found a pair of crab buoys floating in the gulf stream that had dolphin cruising underneath them. We managed to catch 2 dolphin before the bite turned off. Both fish were gaffer sized magi and they went straight into the fish box for dinner. After the magi bite slowed we continued to troll around looking for floating debris. Despite not finding any, we did manage to hook a nice blacken tuna on the deep bait that also went into the fish box for dinner! Shortly after the tuna came aboard a big fish ate the same deep bait and took off towards the horizon. We all had wahoo on our mind, and sure enough a nice 30 lb wahoo popped up in our prop wash after a feisty 10 minute battle. We gaffed the fish and headed back to the dock, knowing that we had pretty muched maxed out our fishing opportunities for the day. It was another incredible Boynton Beach fishing charter aboard Great Day!

11/23/11 Morning Trip

Well the weather finally began to cooperate for us here in Boynton Beach and we were able to run our first fishing charter in quite a few days due to the windy weather. The plan of attack for our visiting South Carolina anglers was to catch a goliath grouper while dropping dead baits over a nearby wreck. Divers have been reporting lots of these monster groupers on the wrecks, sometimes reaching upwards of 500 lbs! Our first 4 drops produced no bites from a massive grouper, but on the 5th drop we hooked a monster. Unfortunately the big goliath grouper took us back into the wreck and broke our line, but it was still fun to watch such a massive tug on the line! We decided to salvage the fishing charter by putting out live baits over the wreck and we hooked and landed 3 massive barracudas up to 53"! We trolled some dead ballyhoo and bonito strips back to the inlet to end the trip and we managed to catch a 6 lb dolphin for the dinner table. It was another awesome Boynton Beach fishing charter.

11/11/11

Today We took out a family from Canada to go fishing on a charter in the fertile waters of the Gulfstream. Despite the choppy seas, our customers remained true sports throughout the length of the fishing trip. The trip started off well and in the first 2 hours we landed around 6 bonito and a nice skipjack tuna, which would be destined for the dinner table. After finding a nice weedline in 200 ft of water, we were soon into the mahi mahi. We spotted the magi eating bonitos so we caught a few bonitos to use for live bait. The bullet sized bonitos did the trick and we were soon hooking into some gaffer sized dolphin fish. Unfortunately, we lost the biggest one, which would have probably tipped the scales at 25 lbs. We did land one that weighed around 12 lbs, so our customers were very happy. On the way in, we even managed to land a Spanish mackerel to add to the table fare! A beautiful day fishing off Boynton and Delray Beach!

September/09/2011

Today we took out a happy couple from Quebec who were eager to test out their inshore fishing skills on the offshore waters of Boynton Beach. In the beginning of the charter we immediately began hooking up with bonito. We caught about 3 small bonito before an 8 lb blacken tuna decided to eat one of the bonito strips that we were trolling. After landing the tuna, we soon hooked into a double header of wahoo out in the blue water. Unfortunately there was a shark that ate one of the wahoo and took the tail off of the other. At least we landed part of a wahoo! The mahi showed up soon after that and we landed a nice one that weighed around 10 lbs. The action slowed towards the middle of the day when our charter came to a close, but the customers were plenty happy with the day's catch. Another successful Boynton Beach fishing charter!

August 2011

August has been a good month for charters on the charterboat "Great Day". We had good fishing with a few sailfish, a few wahoo, some kingfish, and none stop action, with bonito eating everything we put out. It was the month of the bonito. We had reports of a few mako sharks out of Lauderdale and even a blue marlin. Dolphin fishing was very spotty, with only a few good catches way out in the deep. Lets go fishing in the gulfstream.

June 7,2011

Summer is here, even if not officially, the fish don't know that. Water temp off Boynton is 83 degrees. The summer time bonitos are here and we're getting 1/2 doz per trip. Still a few kings around. On 6-18 we had 2 kings 2 25lb wahoos and 6 big bonitos, in the pm 6 gaffer mahi and a 20lb. wahoo in the afternoon. Fathers Day was also good with a 20lb king and a smaller one, 8 bonitos and a big skipjack tuna. Great action with feisty boitos and wahoos around. Come fishing on the Great Day out of Boynton Bch, Fla. Nice breezes and great fishing action.

April 5,2011

Spring break, great weather, and good fishing. A really great spring. Business was good and we had banner fishing days throughout. We had several days with 15-30lb. mahi. Sailfish on live bait and natural bait. On Palm Sunday, flat calm day we baited and caught a scallopped hammerhead shark, 350-400lbs. Mixed in with the mahi and sailfish blackfin tuna and bonito. We also caught alot of big kingfish 15-40lbs. mostly on live bait. Two days in a row we had 38lb ers and double header sailfish. Come fishing with us on the "Great Day" out of "Boynton Harbor Marina"

March 30,2011

March is always a busy charter month with spring break, nicer weather, and good fishing. Same this year. Sailfishing has been consistant throughout. We had doubleheaders 2 days in a row on live bait. and several trolling natural baits. Some tournament boats had double digits sailfish live baiting with the kites. Big bonito showed up in big numbers to test anglers and tackle. Small blackfin tunas to 10 lbs in 200-300 ft. of water still around along with dolphin and kingfish up to 25-30 lbs. A private boat reported a 138 lb. yellowfin tuna. Spinner sharks are still around terrorizing the beach goers. Come big game fishing with us in the gulfstream.

March 9,2011

The cold water and days of not many fish seem to be gone. Febuary is usually this way and it was true to form this year. We had a great trip the first of the month, a b-day trip for 5 anglers with some nice sized dolphin, b-fin tunas, and a big amberjack. The rest of the month was mostly slow with a few sailfish, and a few runs of bonita. The wrecks produced some big barracuda, with one 55", and a few amberjacks up to 45#. March is starting strong with school sized dolphin, gaffers mixed in and sailfish mostly on live bait. wintertime bonitos still around. A report of 300# blue marlin came in 2 days ago off Boynton Inlet, caught on a 26' center console. Fish ate a small dolphin being reeled in and got hooked, 2 1/2 hour battle. Way to go Tim. Spring break is starting and we're looking forward to good business and good fishing.

February 1,2011

Christmas week was a truly blessed week with great weather, calm seas, plenty of charters, and good fishing. The winds were from the west , so the ocean was calm. We caught a few nice sized mahi, up to 15lbs. some blackfin tuna, and 3 sailfish, trolling and 1 while live bait fishing. The following week was also good weather and good fishing. We had a 29lb. kingfish and a 19lber the same day, more mahi, blackfin tuna, and sailfish. The sailfishing for the tournament boats was off the scale, with some boats having 20 or more for the day. The next week we put the boat out of the water for yearly maintainance, and bottom paint. Lets go fishing in the Gulfstream.

October 17,2010

Started with offshore wind, a lot of scattered weed, not much action. We did manage to pick up 4 black-fin tunas and a small bonita, and had a sailfish on breifly. Then the wind switched, it started getting rough and we came in.

October 16,2010

The ocean was flat with an offshore wind. We started trolling inshore and caught some spanish mackeral and blue runners on light tackle. Then we worked offshore and caught a few kingfish, one about 10 lbs. The gulfstream water was in close, so when the king bite slowed up we went a little deaper and luckily we found a huge school of mullet in about 450ft of water. We suddenly hooked 3, 10-12lb mahi. Before we got the last one in the boat, we hooked another and managed to get all 4, great action and team work. The cell tower contractors, eat good that night.

October 15,2010

A very pretty ocean, but very little action. We caught 3 black-fin tunas and a bonita.

October 13,2010

Oct 13 What a great day aboard the " great Day". In 450-500 ft of water there was scattered weeds, flying fish and mahi. We picked away at them and ended up with 4, 8-12 lb fish and 5 smaller ones, a small wahoo and 2 black-fin tunas. None stop action the whole 4hr trip.

October 11,2010

Sportfishing today was ok. We had 4 kingfish, one was 12lbs. and 5 bonita that were small, so we put them out for bait at the end of our deepsea adventue, but only had one bite off.

July 29, 2010

Today was one of those days when everything just kinda comes together perfectly! We had a morning trip with a cheerful family from Canada that was very eager to test out the fishing in our South Florida waters. Luckily, the sun was out, the ocean was flat calm, and the fish were biting! It didnt take long to hook up to our first blackfin tuna while trolling 2 miles off Boynton Inlet. The tuna wasn't a monster, but even thse little football sized ones are delicious! We pulled in 4 more tunas before getting a big bite on the deep rod, and after a brief 5 minute battle, our 12 year old angler got the best of a nice sized wahoo! After landing the wahoo, the barracudas began biting ravenously, and we caught 3 cudas over 40" long before heading in around lunch time...another Great Day of fishing!

July 26, 2010

Today we were hired to run another boat in the afternoon out of Boynton Beach. We set out around 1pm and we were greeted with calm seas and beautiful conditions as we headed offshore in search of some action. We found a nice current edge out in 600 ft of water that looked perfect for trolling up a dolphin or maybe even a wahoo. We trolled the edge for about an hour, locating numerous small pods of "peanut dolphin" meandering around. Unfortunately, these little guys wanted nothing to do with our baits, as they definitely were not in a feeding mode. We decided to head inshore where the water turned from blue to green, often a good indicator of feeding kingfish. Sure enough we found a nice pod of 10- 20 lb kings that were eager to eat our deep baits as we trolled through them. We managaed to land 3 nice kings before 4:30pm, saving an otherwise slow day of fishing. These kings have been holding for a couple days now, so book a trip now to get your shot at the action!

July 24, 2010

Today we had two half day charters, despite stiff 15 knot winds and choppy seas. In the morning, the bite was a little slow to start, but picked up as the morning progressed. We started hooking bonitos around 10am and they kept biting for about an hour before shutting down. After putting 3 in the box, a football sized blackfin tuna ate one of our lures fished way back behind the boat. The tally for the morning was 3 bonitos and a blackfin tuna. In the afternoon, the bite picked up quite a bit and the action was nonstop for 3 straight hours. While trolling with ballyhoo and bonito strips, we managed to land 5 big barracudas, 3 kings up to 20 lbs, and 4 big bomber bonitos! You never know when the fishing is going to get red hot off Boynton Beach, but when it does it is very exciting indeed!

July 11, 2010

Today we fished with a couple very skilled junior anglers determined to have a great day out in the water with their father. We started off the day with a bang and nailed a monster bonito out front of Boynton Inlet around 8:30 am. The big bony weighed nearly 20 lbs! After that we caught a football sized blackfin tuna on a small lure fished way back behind the boat in about 200 ft of water. The conditions were once again spectacular with light winds gracing us during the whole trip. The fishing slowed around 10 am but then picked back up around 11 when the current started moving at a good clip to the North. The bite was red hot all the way up to the end of the trip and for 45 minutes rods were bent and arm muscles were working! These guys were able to land 2 nice kingfish over 10 lbs and 2 more big bonito, ultimately leading to yet another great day of fishing! Come back guys and keep up the good work, you are on your way to becoming expert anglers!

Kingfish - Great Day Sportfishing Boynton Beach, FL

July 10, 2010

Today we fished with Jimmy Morales and friends for the second time in 2 weeks. We were greeted with glass-like conditions once again, and the fish started biting right away as we trolled in front of of Boynton Inlet. Although we couldn't find the blackfin tunas that were out there the day before, the big bomber bonitos were thick and we hooked 5 during the first 2 hours of fishing. We were able to land 3 of these brutes, averaging about 15 lbs a piece. Then the bite slowed around 10 am and we asked Jimmy if he wanted to switch things up a bit and try and catch a shark. He thought it was a good idea, so we put out one of our bonitos for bait and within minutes we were hooked up to a monster bull shark! We fought the fish for an hour and a half before we finally had her tired by the boatside. We shot some awesome video and got some great pics before we let her go to roam the depths free once again. It was a team effort and everyone was thrilled by the whole experience. Congratulations guys!

Bull Shark - Great Day Sportfishing Boynton Beach, FL

July 9, 2010

This morning our clients were determined to put together enough fish for an all out feast, so the pressure was on us to put them on some good fishing. The conditions were beautiful as we began trolling off Boynton Inlet, with calm winds making for glass like conditions on the ocean. We found decent weedlines and patches all the way out to 300 ft, but our baits were ignored for the first 45 minutes as we trolled around looking for some action. We decided to switch up tactics and drop to the bottom for snapper in the Lake Worth area, but after 20 minutes without a bite it was apparent that they weren't biting. As we pulled in the snapper baits, we began to see football sized blackfin tuna busting baits near a weedline just offshore of us, so we began trolling once again. Sure enough the tunas started biting with wreckless abandon and before we knew it we were hooked up to a doubleheader. After we landed those two fish, the bite was on and we caught five more tasty tunas in the next hour. Then they stopped biting just as quickly as they started, probably due to the fact that boats were invading from all directions as they caught wind of the hot bite. During the final hour of the trip, a nice kingfish surprised us and ate a bonito strip fished near the bottom, rounding out the day and adding a little flavor to the day's catch. Great Day guys!

Tunas - Great Day Sportfishing Boynton Beach, FL

July 8, 2010

After 3 days of solid fishing in a row, we figured there was no way the fish would be biting on the fourth day…but we were wrong! Once again, the day started off slow with very little action on our trolled baits early in the morning. We did manage to put 2 nice little blackfins in the box before 9am, but after that the bite shut down for the whole fleet. We decided to switch tactics and put out some live baits over the shipwreck, but even that tactic yielded no results. We blamed a South flowing current for the poor fishing, and decided to go back to trolling for the last hour of the trip. As the end of the trip neared, however, the current switched back to the North and the fish started biting! In final 15 minutes of the trip, the drags started screaming and our junior anglers were able to put 2 15 lb bonito and a 10 lb king in the box. All of these fish responded to bonito strips trolled deep on the planer. Congratulations guys I'm glad the fish finally decided to bite!

Great Day Sportfishing Boynton Beach, FL

July 7, 2010

Today we fished with an very nice family from Houston during the morning. The conditions were nearly identical to the past two days, but the fishing was a whole lot different. We expected the tunas to be out in full force once again, but it was the bonitos that ended up putting on a show for us! As we trolled the 180-300 ft depths, we could barely get our lines in the water before monster bonitos would attack from all directions. It didn't really matter what we put out for bait, these bonitos were attacking everything in sight. Double and even Tripleheaders were the norm, and I was impressed to see our anglers hang in there as they fought one bonito after the other to the boat. These fish are some of the hardest pulling fish in the ocean, and I think everybody is going to be sore when they go to bed tonight! These guys wanted to take home some fish to eat, and they lucked out when a nice, tasty kingfish decided to eat a bonito strip trolled deep in the water column. At the very end of the trip, we finally hooked a football sized tuna that was destined for the frying pan until a monster barracuda decided to chomp him in half! Regardless, the trip was a success and I would like to praise these guys for their efforts.

July 6, 2010

I thought the tuna bite was amazing yesterday, but today's action was even better! We made it out for a morning trip with a couple guys taking the day off work to do a little fishing. Like yesterday, the bite started off slow but quickly picked up around 9am when we hooked a doubleheader on football sized blackfins. After that it was pure mayhem, with tunas frantically attacking our baits as we trolled them over the ledge in 250 ft of water. Our biggest surprise of the day came when a nice king mackerel decided to eat our deep bait out in 300 ft of water. Those kings rarely travel that deep! After putting a dozen tunas in the box, it was the bonitos turn to eat our baits. We hooked an impressive doubleheader of big "bomber" bonitos and also released a couple nice barracudas when the tuna action finally slowed down. The final tally for the day was 12 tunas, 1 king, 2 bonitos, and 2 barracudas. Not a bad day for a pair of anglers!

July 5, 2010

Well, after a rainy 4th of July weekend it was back to fishing on Monday with a group of anglers from Lithuania. Already skilled anglers in the Baltic Sea, these guys were ready to test their might on some Atlantic Ocean pelagic species. The day started off slow early in the morning, but the action began to heat up around 9am. Hoardes of football sized blackfin tuna started marauding bait with wreckless abandon on the outside of the shallow reef, and our trolling baits began producing multiple hookups on nearly every pass over the ledge. The blackfins weren't huge, but they sure are tasty and what they lacked in size they made up for in quantity. By noon, the crew of enthusiastic anglers were able to put 9 tunas and 2 bonitos in the fish box! A few barracudas also made their way to a couple of trolled baits as well, making for some awesome catch and release action. Book a fishing charter today for your chance to take home a sushi dinner…

Great Day Sportfishing Boynton Beach, FL

June 28, 2010

Today we fished with Jimmy Morales and crew for a morning trip in some rough seas. Despite the 3-4 ft chop, the guys hung in there for the full four hours and it paid off. As expected the early morning bite was a bit slow with the full moon the night before. Often the full moon causes the fish to feed all night, and the next morning they get lockjaw. This was the case, but around 11am the fish finally turned on and 11 year old Kevin caught his first kingfish, a 20 pounder! The king ate a live goggleeye fished out of a downrigger. After that, we managed to hook a doubleheader of blackfin tunas out of the outriggers using plain feathers for bait. Overall the trip was a success with the fish turning on at the very end!

20 ponder Kingfish - Great Day Sportfishing Boynton Beach, FL

June 23, 2010

Today we took out loyal customer Bill French for a morning of trolling out front of Boynton Inlet. The fishing was a little slower than we saw last week, but there was still enough action for us to deem it a "Great Day" of fishing, especially since the calm seas made it so enjoyable. While trolling small skirts in 200 ft of water, we managed to catch 3 blackfin tunas that would be destined for the dinner table. Our full moon wahoo never showed up, but we did nab a nice king off the planer rod just South of the inlet. One of the coolest aspects of the day was the amount of loggerhead turtles we saw frolicking in the currents. It is always nice knowing that these magnificent creatures are thriving in our area. I expect the bite ot remain good this week with nice weather and plenty of hungry fish out there, so book your trip today!

June 19, 2010

Today we fished with Thad and friends for a morning trip. After starting the day slow, the king bite turned on around 10 am and before we knew it we had 5 schoolie sized kings in the box that fell for some live baits as well as bonito strips fished deep on the planer. When the kings stopped biting, we decided to head offshore and fish a little deeper for a dolphin or a wahoo, especially since we were approaching the week of the full moon. We didnt hit our wahoo, but we did land a nice dolphin that hit a dead ballyhoo in 300 ft of water. The dolphin was patrolling a weedline looking for a mid morning snack when we interrupted his day! Hopefully the dolphin fishing will remain good as the week progresses!

June 17, 2010

Today we took out another group of anglers in town for a convention at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Lantana Beach. The bite was not near as hot as the day before, but we did manage to catch a decent king, a blackfin tuna, and a few small bonitos before heading back to the docks at noon. We found the fish off the Lake Worth Pier in 100-200 ft of water, just a mile off the beach. The king ate a bait fished deep behind a planer board, and the tuna and bonitos took baits fished along the surface way back out of the outriggers.

June 16, 2010

Today we fished with Nico and his buddies from Slovakia who were in town for a bachelor party before a big wedding up in New Jersey. These guys picked a good day to fish because we found a good bite right out in front of the inlet with Captain Richard Ebersold at the helm. The king bite was the best we had seen all week, with 9 kingfish brought to the boat by 11am! The kings averaged 10-15 lbs and they even decided to immortalize a 30 lb king by getting it mounted for their wall! The kings were all suckers for trolled natural baits fished about 40 feet below the surface. To top off all the king action, we were also able to nab a tuna, a dolphin, and a bonito on the surface baits fished out of the outriggers. By the end of the day, all 6 anglers had a chance to reel in at least 2 fish each, making for some awesome action in a four hour trip!

June 15, 2010

Today we teamed up with the Geno 4, Miller Time, My Better Half, and the Sharon Lee to take out some sales associates in town for a convention at the Ritz Carlton. The bonitos were out in full force on this breezy Tuesday morning and our anglers had a blast reeling in bomber after bomber. These brutes of the deep were falling victim to ballyhoo and bonito strips fished out of the outriggers and on the planer. Art the end of the trip we had a welcomed surprise when a couple blackfin tunas decided to eat naked skirts fished way back out of the outriggers. Since our customers already had their dinners planned for the week, they gave the tunas to us to take home for sushi dinner. Thanks guys and come fish with us again!

June 14, 2010

Today I got the chance to fish a couple guys from Jersey. Our plan for the day was to focus on catching dolphin and wahoo, as we anticipated that there would be a good bite in the morning. Unfortunately, despite beautiful water and lots of current, we were unable to hook a single dolphin or wahoo! In fact, the whole charter dock there was not one wahoo weighed in! We did have a blast catching a sailfish way offshore in the blue water. We usually dont find them that far offshore so it was a pretty cool surprise. Anyway, I have plenty of availability for charters this week for anyone looking to hook into some fish!

June 13, 2010

Well, the big news! In the past two weeks it has been the arrival of oversized blackfin tunas along our coastline. This morning we happened to find a couple tunas right out front of Boynton Inlet that were eager to bite our live baits. With Diane from Montreal on the reel, we began the day trolling ballyhoo and quickly caught a couple little dolphin near a weedline on 120 ft of water. After the bite slowed for us trolling, we put out the live baits and immediately started hooking up with big bomber bonitos and blackfin tuna. Our biggest tuna weighed about 35 lbs. and put up one heck of a fight on light tackle. Congratulations on your first monster blackfin Diane!

May 23, 2010

This afternoon we made it fishing with a family from Palm Beach Gardens. They had never been offshore fishing before, but they were eager to learn new tricks and brave the 2-4 ft seas to catch some fish. Our first hookup came only 20 minutes after leaving the docks at Two Georges Marina, and we ended up hooking 4 dolphin at the same time. As chaos ensued, we managed to land all four of the dolphin, a truly miraculous feat with 4 novice offshore anglers! Unfortunately, one of the dolphin was too small and had to be released, but it was definitely an awesome start to the trip. After that, we ended up landing 7 more keeper dolphin up to 20 lbs. in the next few hours. We even managed to nab a blackfin tuna and a keeper kingfish while trolling back towards the inlet on the way home. The dolphin are thick! Anyone wanting to get out there needs to give me a call!

This morning we started the day with Michelle and her family for their final day of their 3 day charter. We decided to take a chance and headoffshore in search of dolphin and marlin, setting up our 50 and 80 lb outfits with horse ballyhoo and large lures for the troll. After 3 hours and 26 miles covered, we had no luck in hooking anything on our offshore adventure. Despite the slow fishing, Michelle was happy to take home a whole cooler full of fish from the last two days. In the afternoon we took out a few enthusastic anglers visiting from Trinidad. The bite turned on for the afternoon, and we ended up hooking a monster amberjack just 10 minutes into the troll! After that, we continued trolling and caught kingfish, dolphin, bonito, and even a rainbow runner before we decided to head back to the docks and call it an afternoon. Check out the HD video footage taken from the fly bridge!
Kingfish, Dolphin, Bonito - Great Day Sportfishing

May 19, 2010

Today Michelle showed up to the dock with only her mother for a fun day of bottom fishing and mother daughter bonding out on the water. The weather could not have been more beautiful, with blue skies and glass calm seas making for an easy ride up to our "snapper hole". We were fishing within 20 minutes of leaving the dock, and soon the fishing duo was hooking into snappers, porgie, and grunts on every drop! The ladies had an awesome time, occassionally bringing 4 fish at a time with multiple hook rigs. On the way in, we decided to put out a few rods to catch a kingfish while trolling, and sure enough we hooked a king right before pulling our spread near the inlet. Another awesome day for Michelle and family!

May 14, 2010

Today was Day 1 of a three day charter with our regular customer Michelle with her family and friends, and they were very excited to get out on the water for a morning of bluewater trolling. Within 15 minutes of leaving the dock, we were already hooking into 10-15 lb kingfish right out front of Boynton Inlet. There were probably 30 other boats fishing the same body of fish, but everyone seemed to be cashing in on the action. Around the 10 am, we decided to head a bit offshore in search of a wahoo or a dolphin to add to the mess of kings we had already accumulated. 10 minutes later we were hooked up to a nice wahoo that hit our deep rod! After a short, 5 minute tug-o -war, Michelle brought the fish in to the gaff and we boated it. By the end of the morning, our final tally was a 20 lb wahoo, 6 kingfish up to 20 lbs, and a couple bonito as well. What a way to start their 3 day adventure!

May 13, 2010

Today we had a trip where nothing seemed to go right in the beginning, but by the end of the day our luck had changed and everything fell into place to make for some awesome fishing! The seas were choppy to start off the day with winds blowing out of the East at 15 knots. Adding to these frustrating conditions was the fact that there was very little current, a scenario that usually makes the fish very finicky when trying to tempt them to eat our baits. For the first 3 hours of the trip, we only had 3 bites while trolling out in front of Boynton Inlet. We never hooked any of these fish as they were biting short on our bonito strips. Everything changed around 11 am when we located a school of small bonito. After hooking a couple bonitos we decided to throw them back out to use as live bait, and that's when the action really started. We ended up landing 4 big barracudas and a 25 lb kingfish that were following the school of small bonitos around the reef. When the bonitos dissappeared, we decided to do a final drift for sailfish before the end of the trip. Using live pilchards for bait, we hooked a sail around 2pm and landed him 15 minutes later! After such outstanding catches, our clients decided to immortalize their fish by having trophy replicas ordered to hang on their wall. It is a trip they will remember forever!

Sailfish in Boynton Beach, FL

May 10, 2010

Today was one of those days when all the elements come together to make for the perfect fishing trip. We left the dock at 7:30 am with a group of 6 anglers who were in town for a business convention. We began trolling South and hooked up with our first kingfish around 9am. A monster hammerhead shark decided that he wanted our king for breakfast before we put a gaff in it, but he was nice enough to leave us with the top half of the fish for our own dinner table. After that first king, the bites came fast and furious and by 10am we had 7 kings and one blackfin tuna in the boat before the bite slowed down. We put out a full spread of live baits after the kings stopped biting, and our first bite came on a live pilchard on a 12 lb spinning outfit. The fish ended up being a big bonito that put up quite a battle on light tackle. The next bite came right at the end of the trip, and what do you know? It's a sailfish! After a 10 minute battle we had the sail boatside before releasing it back into the depths to fight another day. Great trip guys!

Sportfishing in Boyton Beach, FL

May 9, 2010

This morning we had a trip with some entertaining anglers who were happy just to be out on the water whether the fish were biting or not. Fortunately for them and despite a South flowing current, the fish were biting pretty good near the shallow reefs in front of Boynton Inlet. While trolling with ballyhoo and bonito strips, we were able to hook 3 schoolie kings and 4 bonitos before the bite slowed down around 11 am. A moderate NE wind made for bumpy conditions, but this did not distract the anglers from putting some serious heat on some serious fish. This is the best time of year to fish off our coast so book your trip with us today!

May 8, 2010

Today we decided to try a little live baiting around a shipwreck for our morning trip. The first bite of the day turned out to be a monster barracuda that was pushing 55" inches long. After a couple good photographs and high fives, we released the cuda to catch another day. After catching a few small bonitos on the troll, we put out a couple of live baits the flatlines and downrigger in hopes of hooking a big kingfish or wahoo as we slow trolled back towards the inlet in Boynton. Just as we were about to give up hope with 10 minutes left to fish, the downrigger went off and we were hooked up to a nice king. After a dramatic 10 minute battle, we sunk the gaff into a nice smoker king that weighed about 32 lbs back at the dock.

May 7, 2010

Finally, a summerlike weather pattern has set in and the water temps are on the rise. This usually means offshore winds in the morning, onshore winds in the afternoon, and plenty of fish to be caught all day long. This morning we started the day by trolling North along a current edge that had set up in 200 ft of water. Within the first half hour of the trip, we jooked and landed a nice 20 lb bull dolphin that ate a ballyhoo fished near the surface. After that, we hooked another dolphin(around 6 lbs) on the same current edge and landed him before the bite began to slow down. We decided to head a bit farther offshore and started trolling back towards the inlet around 10:30 and that's when a nice football sized blackfin tuna decided to bite on a feather bait fished out of the long outrigger. That was the last of the action we saw, but our customers were more than happy to take home some tuna a nd mahi mahi for the dinner table.

May 3, 2010

This morning we had an enthusiastic group of Canadiens that wanted to catch some big fish. Shortly after putting out the trolling spread we hooked up to something huge on the planer rod. After an intense tugowar, our angler Jack was able to hoist up a 30 lb amberjack from the depths below. Shortly after that, A couple little football size blackfin tunas decided to eat our bonito strips fished out of the long outriggers. After the bite slowed a bit offshore, we cruised back in near the shallow reefs and caught a couple kingfish and an amberine that ate bonito strips fished on our deep rod. Overall, it was an action packed day and our customers had plenty of fish to take home for dinner.

April 30, 2010

This morning started out with bumpy conditions from moderate winds out of the NorthEast. After giving our anglers the choice postponing the trip, they decided to brave the windy conditions with the hopes that the fish would be biting. Well, they made the right decision! Shortly after putting out our trolling spread we found a current edge full of sargassum weed about 3 miles offshore. These are perfect conditions for offshore fishing, and within minutes we were hooked up to our first dolphin. After putting that fish in the box, the action was fast and furious and we hooked 2 doubleheaders, landing 3 more dolphin in the 5-10 lb range. Then, around 9:30, our deep rod started screaming drag and before we knew it a big fish had ripped 200 yards off the reel! We were all thinking that it might be a big wahoo due to the fact that it didnt jump and we were still within a week of the full moon. Sure enough, after a 15 minute battle, I sunk the gaff int a 45 lb wahoo that would be destined for the dinner table! The action slowed a bit after that first fish, but we were still able to put a couple more dolphin in the box and even caught a kingfish to take home for dinner. What a Great Day!

April 28, 2010

This morning we were able to make it out for some offshore fishing with a group of enthusaistic anglers from Vermont and New Hampshire. After the day started out slow, we began to find some good action a couple miles North of Boynton Inlet while trolling with ballyhoo and bonito strips. The first fish of the day was a feisty 15 lb kingfish that ate a bonito strip on the planer rod. After that, a big bomber bonito took one of the feathers fished way back out of the outriggers and we put em in the fish box. The next fish to hit a feather was a beautiful, lit up sailfish that jumped and made some very impressive runs before we chased him down for the release. After that we ended up catching a few more bomber bonitos to round out the day. Although the North winds were blustery and the ocean was choppy, the fish sure did cooperate today!

April 25, 2010

Strong South winds and very little current made for tough fishing conditions along the coastline of Boynton Beach today. We fished in the afternoon with Dave and Lauren and they sure were troopers. We began trolling right in front of the inlet and the conditions kept us from venturing to the North or South, so we stayed right out front. Our first bite turned out to be a small barracuda that hit a ballyhoo with a pink skirt. After that, we managed to land a small kingfish on a trolled bonito strip fished deep on the planer. The couple were satisfied with their catch and decided to call the trip early to get out of the rough seas. West winds are expected next week along with much better fishing conditions...thank God!

April 22, 2010

Light South winds and a decent North current made for some decent fishing conditions this morning for the Baker family of Michigan. The fishing started out a little slow, but around 8:30 we began hooking up with a few feisty little dolphin that were eating bonito strips out of the outriggers. We ended up landing 3 dolphin before the bite shut down. All the fish were between 22" and 30", perfect for some juicy little fillets! After that, the bonitos showed up and we ended up catching 4 nice ones that put up quite a fight on light tackle conventional gear. We ended the trip with a 15 lb kingfish that ate a live goggle eye fished out of the outrigger. We had another trip in the afternoon with John and Tom who split the trip. Expectations were high after they saw our catch from the morning, but unfortunately the fish did not cooperate like they had earlier in the day. Although the trolling was slow, Tom did manage to land his first sailfish while we trolled South towards the shipwreck. The sailfish was fooled by a bonito strip fished way back out of the long outrigger. After that we fished the wreck with no luck and then set up a drift with live baits back towards the inlet. We had 3 kingfish bites and landed one that went about 12 lbs. Overall it was a good trip.

April 19, 2010

We fished with Brian today for an afternoon trip. The conditions were beautiful with light West winds and a North flowing current. The kingfish were the name of the game today as we managed to land a half dozen of them using live pilchards right out front of the inlet. We had a blast watching the kingfish explode and skyrocket on the baits we fished out of the outriggers. We finished off the day with a few bonito that were suckers for the same live pilchards. The kings were not monsters, but we did manage to put a couple in the box over 10 lbs. A couple other boats also reported wahoo out a little deeper in 200-300 ft of water.

April 18, 2010

Chester English and his son Chester were eager to catch some more fish this morning after having a stellar trip last month with a nice wahoo that they had mounted on their wall. Unfortunately, we had a very tough time locating fish as the current was South flowing and the water color was green. These are generally poor conditions when fishing off boynton. We did manage to hook a bonito at the end of the trip that saved the day for us. The bonehead fell for a bonito strip on a blue skirt.

April 17, 2010

Wow what a day! Today was one of those days when the fish were biting with wreckless abandon and it was hard to even get a bait in the water without it being woofed down by a nice dolphin. As Capt. Brad trolled back and forth over the reef ledges right off the inlet, Brian and friends managed to land 14 dolphin and a couple blackfin tuna in a 4 hour period! Even better than the quantity of the fish was the quality of the fish we caught...with a few of the fish ranging between 15 and 30 lbs! Early on , the dolphin were responding well to trolled bonito strips, and as the day progressed we switched over to live baits to keep the bite going. Brian and his buddies were extatic when they took home a whole cooler full of dolphin fillets to cook up when they got home. Great Job guys!

April 10, 2010

Today we had a 6 hour trip with Jason from New Jersey. There was very little current and very dirty water, so the fishing was very tough, but we did manage to land a few keepers. The first fish to hit the box was a 10 lb king that fell for a bonito strip fished deep off the planer. Our second fish was a schoolie dolphin that fell victim to a ballyhoo fished out of the outriggers. To finish the day, we tried fishing the shipwreck with live baits and managed to land a nice barracuda before heading back to the docks.

April 3, 2010

Today turned out to be a tough day of fishing, but we managed to pull some quality fish out of the depths using live goggle eyes for bait. On the morning trip we fished with Paul Carabella and his Navy vet buddies on top of the shipwrecks down to the south. We caught a nice barracuda right off the bat and then went an hour and a half without a bite. Just as the trip was about to end, we put down our last goggleye off the downrigger near the bottom in 85 feet of water and ...Thump!!! A nice cobia inhaled the goggleye and after a 20 minute battle we had the 35 lb fish in the box. For our afternoon trip we fished with Billy Busch and friends from the Anhueser Busch company. Billy's son landed his first sailfish using a love goggle eye in 150 ft of water straight off the inlet. The fish measured 90" and it will be hanging from their wall back home in St Louis! After that, we fished a shipwreck to the north and managed to put a 25 lb cobia in the boat in about 200 ft of water. What a great day it turned out to be!

April 2, 2010

Today was the day of surprises! We took out Nancy Malher and crew for a morning of fishing and the conditions were absolutely beautiful with calm winds, blue water, and plenty of North current. Our first big surprise was a 39" Black Grouper that fell victim to a bonito strip trolled deep on the planer rod. Talk about a tough fish- that thing almost ripped out the rod holder when it hit! The second big surprise of the day was a 45 lb cobia that we found cruising along with a manta ray in 100 ft of water off Lake Worth Pier. The cobia was a sucker for a live goggleeye that we pitched to him. Nancy was in for quite a ride when she got in the fighting chair to battle this behemoth! After fighting the fish for 15 minutes, we had her in the fish box ready to head home to be BBQ'ed up for dinner. We managed to catch a couple kings while trolling on the way back to the inlet to round out the day...

March 17, 2010

The same group of football players from Monday were eager to put another hurting on some fish on this St Patty's day that would go down in infamy. Instead of trolling for kings this time, these guys decided they wanted to fish for some truly big fish near the shipwrecks. On the Great Day, be careful what you ask for because we might just give it to you. The trip started off with a monster hammerhead chowing down on a slab of bonito that we put out to drift along in the current. The 300 lb shark got the best of us after a 10 minute battle, but the guys were still enthusiastic about catching some more monsters. We used live bonitos and blue runners to muscle up 2 big amberjacks from the deep, each weighing around 25 lbs. These were some tough fighting fish, but there was still one species these guys just had to try and catch-a goliath grouper! After putting out our secret goliath grouper bait near the shipwreck, it didnt take long for a monster to eat the bait! The guys fought the fish for over a half hour, but ended up landing a monster 300 lb goliath that took every bit of strength from every person during the battle. It was a truly amazing feat for these guys and it is a fish that we will remember forever on the "Great Day"! Congrats guys!

March 15, 2010

Today we had a group of Spring Breakers from the Kansas State Football team eager to take the field in our own offshore arena where the fish are the superstars! After a fruitless troll to the North at the beginning of the trip, we hit the kings hard once we made it into the waters around Lake Worth and South Palm Beach. These guys were hardcore athletes, easily conquering kingfish after kingfish as we trolled around the dropoff using bonito strips for bait in 70 ft of water. The highlight of the day was when we caught a 19 lb king that smoked a dead ballyhoo fished out of the outrigger. This was a good warmup trip for these guys as they had us booked for the upcoming wednesday as well!

March 13, 2010

Today the kings were biting as good as we have seen all year. We had a group of anglers from Sweden who were very excited to get in on some king mackerel action while visiting Boynton Beach. Using bonito strips for bait, we managed to land half a dozen keeper kings in just a few hours. A few throwbacks were mixed in there as well, but there were some good sized fish put in the fishbox that day. The highlight of the catch was a 28 lb king that decided to inhale a dead ballyhoo way behind the boat off the long outrigger. That smoker king sizzled the drag pretty darn good before finally giving up and coming to the gaff waiting in first mate George's hands. Today gave us the feeling that Spring is arriving and the bigger fish are arriving with it!

March 12, 2010

Sometimes the weather forecast turns upside down just when the time comes to leave the dock to go fishing, and today was no exception! Today we split up a big group of vacationing insurance adjusters to go fishing aboard 4 different boats, including Geno 4, Sharon Lee, Fish Happens, and Great Day. Unfortunately, the rain started as soon as we left the dock and didnt stop for the rest of the day. The winds were forecast out of the west, but when they switched Northeast at 20 knots, we knew we would be in for a rough ride. Of course the fish were biting, and we did manage to land 2 bonitos and a kingfish before we called it a day and headed back to the dock around 10 am. All the fish fell victim to bonito strips fished deep off a planer.

March 8, 2010

Today Terry made it out fishing in the morning with a couple friends eager to try some offshore fishing. Bonitos were the name of the game today, and we had no problem tangling into 8 "bombers" that kept the rods bent consistently for the whole trip. The trick to getting them to bite trolling dead ballyhoo at a very slow speed. We took a break from the bonito slaying towards the end of the trip and we put out a couple live baits out over the shipwreck. The result was a beautiful 48" Barracuda that Terry decided to make into a trophy for his wall! Congratulations Terry on a very nice fish!

March 5, 2010

Today we had a group of veterans ready to wage war against the kingfish that have recently showed up to our area this week. Just a short run South out of Boynton inlet, we found the kings eager to bite our trolled baits in about 80 ft. of water off Delray Beach. With six guys on the boat, the pressure was on to catch enough fish for dinner, but the kings did'nt disappoint. The fish were'nt monsters, but we ended up catching 5 kings in the 6-10 lb range and released a handful of undersized fish as well. Everyone took home a big bag of fish and we were happy to learn that they booked another trip for April, which happens to be one of the best months for offshore fishing!

March 3, 2010

Teddy Taylor and a friend chartered us out on what started out as a slow day trolling. Like we tell all our clients, however, there is always the chance that in a four hour trip we have to get creative to catch fish. This time of year, that usually means securing live baits to fish above one of the shipwrecks in our area. After we abandoned trolling and switched to using live goggle eyes for bait, we started nailing the fish right away. After a couple drops with the downrigger, we nailed a pair of monster barracudas around 45\" each. Teddy decided to make a trophy fish mount from the first one. Congratulations and nice fish! We rounded out the day with a couple bonito while trolling using dead ballyhoo on the way home. It was an awesome afternoon.

February 21, 2010

Today Steve and Lisa chartered us out for an exciting morning of trolling and live baiting. A South Current kept the fish catching while trollng almost nonexistent, but we did manage to catch a couple monster barracuda while live baiting on the wreck. Out of 4 charter boats that went out today in Boynton, only one of them came back to the dock with a fish- a 20 lb dolphin. I expect the current to switch around and the fishing to pick up this week so book us today!

February 19,2010

Wahoo!!!! We left for a morning trip this morning and immediately hooked up to a doubleheader on wahoo as we made our first turn trolling in 200ft of water. We lost the second wahoo on the long outrigger, but the first one made it into the fish box. It weighed around 20 lbs and fell victim to a bonito strip on the planer. After that, the bite was as slow as it goes, but we did manage to land a couple big baracudas at the end of the trip while live baiting o the shipwreck.

February 18,2010

This afternoon we had a split trip between Howard and Frank, who were both determined to hook into some fish while trolling offshore. The bite was less than stellar, but a couple small kings, a bonito, and a couple monster barracuda kept the action going.

February 14,2010

This morning the fishing was slow to start, but it picked up about half way through the trip and we were able to put a couple small kings in the box by 10 AM. The kings were taken on the troll using bonito strips for bait below the surface. At the end of the trip we were able to catch a nice amberjack that weighed around 35 lbs. The AJ was a sucker for a live blue runner on the downrigger.

February 7,2010

February 7, 2010 Once again we were greeted with strong West winds and we headed out with hopes of tangling with a sailfish using live bait. The sails did not bite for us, but the kingfish gave plenty of action and we were able to land 3 after we abandoned the live bait fishing to go trolling. Fresh bonito strips did the trick for us.

February 6,2010

Despite West winds blowing at 25-30 knots, local anglers Andres, Will, and Brad decided they wanted to charter us for a sailfishing trip. Using live herring for bait, the elusive sailfish did not show its face for us, but we were still greeted with some action. Using a downrigger, we were able to land a nice kingfish and 3 red groupers during our 3 hours of fishing. Although we could have wished for a little more action, you can't complain when you come back to the dock with fresh kingfish for the smoker!

February 3,2010

We were able to get out on a beautiful morning with 4 enthusiastic anglers from Ontario ready for some offshore tug-o-war. The fish cooperated well over the shipwreck, and before we knew it we were hooked up to a double header of monster amberjack using live blue runners for bait. Unfortunately, one of the fish broke us off on the wreck and the other one spit the hook right before I was able to gaff it. We quickly recovered from misfortune and were able to land a 33" amberjack shortly after. When the amberjacks stopped biting the barracudas took over and we were able to land a 45 incher before we began trolling home. On the way home we caught a kingfish to round out the day!

February 1,2010

February 1, 2010: Despite non stop rain for the entire day, we were able to get out fishing with a couple gung- ho anglers from Arkansas for an afternoon trip aboard Great Day. We managed to catch 2 Mahi Mahi and 2 Bonitos while trolling before we switched tactics and put out some live baits over the shipwrecks. The anglers had a blast catching 2 monster Barracudas using live blue runners for bait. In fact they were so proud of their catch they decided to make trophys out of them to hang on their wall! One went 45" and the other was 42". On the way home we nabbed 2 kingfish while trolling with bonito strips for bait. Who says the fish don't bite in the rain!

Jan 25 - 27,2010

On Monday, January 25, anglers aboard Great Day had a blast reeling in a couple nice kingfish and a handful of feisty bonitos during a 3 hour long morning trip in the waters South of Boynton Inlet. That afternoon on Great Day, another happy group of anglers scored even more action in a 3 hour trip while trolling and live baiting South of the inlet. On the troll, two nice kings were taken as well as a handful of bonitos using ballyhoo and bonito strips as bait. Capt. Brad and first mate George made the call to stop trolling for the second half of the trip and they decided to put out a couple live bonitos for bait to switch things up a bit. The result was 2 monstrous amberjacks around 40 lbs each that put up quite a fight on light tackle! Capt. Brad said that the second amberjack was eaten by a huge bullshark just before it was landed, adding a bit more excitement to an already exciting trip.

On Wednesday, January 27, the Great day headed out for a morning trip with a few enthusiastic anglers from Ontario. The first fish landed was a nice Mahi Mahi that was taken using a dead ballyhoo for bait while trolling. After the trolling bite slowed down, Capt. Brad gave the word to put out some live blue runners over a shipwreck. After that the bites came fast and furious and soon the anglers had another monster Amberjack in the box and also released a big barracuda to finish off the successful afternoon.
